New predictors of disease
Article Abstract:
The autoantibodies manufactured by the immune system appear many years before visible symptoms of disease, suggesting that screening for these molecules can be used for predicting who is at risk of falling ill. These autoantibodies might serve as guides to the severity and progression of disease and might also warn of risk for some nonimmune disorders.
