New product development success factors in American and British firms
Article Abstract:
A comparative study on New Product Development success factors between American and British firms was conducted. The study was based on an in-depth survey of 38 American and 49 British companies representing key industrial sectors of chemical, computer, electronics and transportation. Various success factors such as strategic market focus were common between UK and US firms. Although the overall success rate of new products launched for the US and UK was the same, UK firms lagged behind their US counterparts in terms of new products launched.

The strategic integration of markets and competencies
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze a management model to integrate market selection and competency development based on the context of new product or service development. Data from manufacturing, computer software and services businesses were utilized to describe the concepts. Approaches to market, platform and competency development were examined. Results indicated that thinking about the integration of markets, platforms and competencies can help services and computer businesses just as much as manufacturers of physical products.

Requirements capture as process of technology-market integration
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze requirements capture as a process of technology acquisition at the front end of the product development process. Elements needed to undertake an effective requirements capture process were considered. The influence of requirements capture on product innovation and development processes was then examined. Results indicated that requirements capture, as an aid to the management of the front end of a new product, requires the enhancement of associated management and activities.
