On the over-investment in automotive technology
Article Abstract:
The existence of very high levels of research and development spending in the automotive industry can be greatly attributed to government regulation and the absence of private auto-mobility alternative. It has been observed that governments have initiated policies that favor enhancement of automobility instead of establishment of other collective forms of mobility. It has also been observed that societies have followed the path of unlimited individual mobility as alternative to private auto-mobility remains inexistent.

Inertia and the strategic use of politics and power: a case study in the automotive industry
Article Abstract:
A correlation exists between inertia and the strategic use of politics and power. Consideration of the German and French automobile industry revealed that the strategic use of politics and power greatly helps in preventing the occurrence of drastic change in the industry. Automotive firms in the two countries use their lobbying power to address a regulatory pressure concerning recycling of end-of-life vehicles.
