Organizational learning curves: persistence, transfer and turnover
Article Abstract:
A study of organizational learning curves disputes the implication of the classic learning curve model that knowledge acquired through learning is cumulative and persists over time. Recent research reveals that knowledge acquired through learning by doing depreciates, with many factors affecting the rate of depreciation. It was also found that turnover affects learning and depreciation, with the loss of good performers hurting the performance of the organization. Moreover, the study found that knowledge transfer occurs within and across organizations, although in various degrees of transfer.
