Article Abstract:
The unique fir ecosystem in the southeastern coast of Vancouver Island is threatened by the growing human populations in the area. A move has been done by concerned environmentalists to push for legislation that will save the near extinct Douglas fir which comprise a majority of the area's ecosystem.

Mighty oaks from tiny acorns grow
Article Abstract:
The Garry oak-brome meadow ecosystem is facing extinction due to the growing populations of Victoria, Canada. Many rare plant species found in association with Garry oaks are affected by the loss of these trees. The Conservation Data Centre has been established to monitor these endangered species.

High-density housing takes the shine off Glencoe Cove
Article Abstract:
The high-density housing project proposed by Stanrick Group Ltd is threatening the existing ecosystems in Glencoe Cove. The area is included in the 39.8-acre property which the company is planning to convert into a housing subdivision.
