Cleaner production, employment effects and socio-economic development
Article Abstract:
The use of environmentally friendly or clean technologies produces substantial employment benefits such as improved health and security as well as higher qualification and motivation of workers. This is evident in a survey of 41 Austrian firms, whose adoption of clean technologies did not lead to significant reduction or expansion of jobs. While rationalization occurred for many firms, this was to broaden the firm's market share and improve their competitiveness.
