Radiocesium dating of sediments from lakes and reservoirs of different hydrological regimes
Article Abstract:
Radioactive dating has been one of the most efficient means of acquiring information regarding the accumulation and transfer of anthorpogenic substances and evaluating the sedimentation rates between localities. Through the use of radiocesium dating, it was found that the sedimentation rate in Lake Biel and Rhine River during the mid 1990s were significantly lower than the previous years. Other statistics on the radiocesium deposition rate of various rivers and water reservoirs have also been provided.

Identification of estrogenic chemicals in STW effluent. 2. in vivo responses in trout and roach
Article Abstract:
Natural and synthetic steroidal estrogen were detected in the final effluent from sewage-treatment works (STW). Estrone and 17beta-estradiol were detected at concentrations in the tens of nanograms per liter range while the synthetic estrogen 17alpha-ethynulestradiol was detected in the low nanogram per liter range. Results reveal that sufficient amounts of natural steroidal estrogens can induce vitellogenin synthesis in male fish.
