Planets remind astronomers of home
Article Abstract:
Astronomers Geoff Marcy and Paul Butler have identified two planets that have regular orbits and relatively mild temperatures. The planet orbiting the star 47 Ursae Majoris has an average temperature below freezing. The planet orbiting the star 70 Virginis has a average temperature of 80 degrees Celsius.

Astronomers probe creation by measuring isotopes
Article Abstract:
Keck telescope observations confirming that deuterium existed at high levels in the first seconds of the universe will help estimate the proportion of dark to regular matter in the cosmos. However, conflicting measurements of deuterium threaten the accepted version of the big bang theory.

Astronomers see a cosmic antigravity force at work
Article Abstract:
Astronomers have reluctantly concluded that an antigravity force is counteracting gravity, thereby accelerating the expansion rate of the universe. Most agree that even conservative interpretations of the results are quite remarkable.
