Preventing HIV infection: altering behavior is still the prime way to control the epidemic
Article Abstract:
Many of the controversial measures to effect a behavioral change in high-risk sectors have been effective in reducing the number of HIV infections. Programs such as access to condoms or sterile needles have been effective in reducing infections in these groups, despite the opposition mounted by pressure groups.

New offensives against HIV
Article Abstract:
Rapidly increasing rate of HIV positive people worldwide is a cause for concern along with lack of access to lifesaving drugs in developing countries. A new drug target and an advocacy group are assisting in fighting the disease and subsequent spread of the disease.

Avoiding infection after HIV exposure: treatment may reduce the chance of contracting HIV infection after a risky encounter
Article Abstract:
Postexposure propylaxis can help a lot in preventing HIV infections after exposure. Studies have shown that intake of zidovudine prior to or immediately after exposure to HIV infected persons can significantly reduce infections.
