A team of ecologists and economists led by Robert Costanza assessed the placement value of the earth's ecosystems, to emphasize how the natural environment is essential to life. Some critics call their average total of $33.3 trillion per year too high, and other call it a pointless exercise.

Biology departments restructure
Article Abstract:
Biologists do not all agree with the splitting of biology departs by level of study since some critical research areas will also be split. Other problems include faculty hires, and the downgrading of fields such as entomology and botany as fields such as cellular biology are elevated.
