Pyromorphite formation from geothite adsorbed lead
Article Abstract:
Goethite-adsorbed lead (Pb) plays a key role in the in situ bioremediation of soil Pb. The interaction between goethite-adsorbed Pb and labile soil Pb species results to the reduction of the bioavailability of adsorbed Pb into insignificant levels. The study utilized a synthetic geothite and synthetic hydroxyapatite to represent adsorbed Pb and soluble phosphate, respectively. Results indicated that the adsorption and desorption of Pb is influenced by hydrogen-ion concentration or pH and that the sorbed Pb is equilibrated with free Pb2+ ion in the solution.

Aerosol mineralization of chlorofluorocarbons by sodium vapor reduction
Article Abstract:
Sodium vapor reduction proves to be useful in the aerosol mineralization of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). The process, which mixes vapor-phase CFCs and sodium at atmospheric pressure in an exothermic single-pass process, has efficiently destructed surrogate CFC (CF4) and has able to form equilibrium-predicted products of reaction such as benign salt-coated carbon aerosols. The new method could be utilized to treat effluent of plasma reactors used in semiconductor processing.

In situ immobilization of lead species in combustion environments by injection of gas phase silica sorbent precursors
Article Abstract:
The gas phase concentration of lead oxide decreases and the homogenous nucleation of lead species is inhibited when the silicon precursor is oxidized to produce silica particles in the high temperatures, followed by the spectroscopy of PbO(g). The injection of gas phase silica sorbent precursors yielded larger lead particles that are immobilized and confined within a silica matrix.
