Reef roulette: coral reefs on the island of Maui take their chances amid an onslaught of environmental variables
Article Abstract:
Eric Brown of the Pacific Whale Foundation has spent ten years monitoring changes in the island of Maui's coral reefs. Data gathered identifies reef areas in need of environmental protection. The data reveals changes in the reefs are "site specific," with some reefs regenerating quickly from wave and human damage, while other reefs continue to decline.
