Research Council Says U.S. Climate Models Can't Keep Up
Article Abstract:
A National Research Council committee report supports the conclusion that the US has too few climate models for effective research on greenhouse warming. Better computer models are needed as well as more supercomputer power for running the models. The Clinton Administration is funding a plan to strengthen information technology, but an organized national strategy on climate modeling is necessary.

Methane in the Deep Blue Sea
Article Abstract:
Congress is considering spending $42.5 million into hydrate research over the next 5 years, reasoning that the estimated 10,000 gigatons of carbon contained in mostly deep marine sources are a valuable possible energy resource. The current state of many kinds of hydrate research and scientific speculation is briefly reviewed.
