Semiconductors open a new niche for plasma researchers
Article Abstract:
Plasma physicists hurt by cutbacks in federal thermonuclear fusion programs may be able to find work in the semiconductor industry. Conferees at an American Physical Society Plasma Physics Div meeting learned of increased opportunities in plasma-driven semiconductor etching.

Turbulence may sink titanic reactor
Article Abstract:
A new set of calculations indicates that the $10 billion International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor will not prove that fusion is a practical source of energy. The calculations involve a new theory of how turbulence affects hot, ionized gases in a tokamak.
