Researchers make slick and sticky films
Article Abstract:
A Univ of Illinois team has created molecules that assemble themselves into thick films that are sticky on one surface and slick on the other. The molecules, called rodcoils, first form mushroom-shaped clusters, then many clusters form sheets, which then stack to form thick films.

Nanotubes show image-display talent

Researchers in Switzerland are developing flat screen display technology that utilizes nanotubes as electron emitters in imaging devices. A nanotube-based device would have the advantages of being lightweight and of using existing cathode ray tube research.
