Reverse weathering, clay mineral formation, and oceanic element cycles
Article Abstract:
Researchers have demonstrated that aluminosilicate minerals form rapidly in Amazon delta marine sediments. The finding supports the hypothesis that reverse weathering occurs in marine sediments, which has implications for problems concerning the geochemical balance of the world's oceans.

Redox stabilization of the atmosphere and oceans and marine productivity
Article Abstract:
Researchers developed a coupled biogeochemical box model to determine the stabilizing effects of phosphorous and oxygen cycles on atmospheric O2 during the Phanerozoic. Another experiment found changes in tectonic uplift and weathering dramatically change the model output.

Regulation of atmospheric O2: feedback in the microbial feedbag
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that feedback mechanisms residing in the ocean prevent large fluctuations of atmospheric oxygen. The mechanisms rely on the dependence of nutrient recycling rates on the oxygen content of the deep ocean.
