Terrorism expert discuss structural design challenges
Article Abstract:
Engineers must design bombproof and secure buildings as terrorists have shifted their attention from individuals to industrial installations, commercial properties and transportation facilities, according to AEGIS Institute Exec Dir Norman Glover. He added that bombing is the method of choice of terrorists since it is more noticeable and does the most damage. Chris Bowes, associate director of TPS Consult, said terrorist attacks can be minimized by using large planters around the perimeter of a building, controlled parking and secure access to the building.
