School students know little of engineering
Article Abstract:
A survey of more than 4,000 students aged 11 to 16 in England and Wales revealed that almost 75% of them have very little information regarding engineering jobs. Moreover, engineering is only regarded as a second choice because of the persistence of the view that engineering entails dirty work. However, there were some positive points gleaned from the survey such as the view by 35% of the students that an engineering job provides good compensation.

Engineering ceramics
Article Abstract:
The term 'engineering ceramic' has gained currency having more specificity than 'advanced' or 'technical' ceramic when such materials have been employed as load bearing structures or as a parts of machinery. Ceramics such as alumina, ziroconia, silicon carbide and silicon nitride belong to this group. Ceramics are used as structural materials due to their rare qualities of strength, hardness, corrosion resistance and refrctoriness.
