Seeking out strange new worlds
Article Abstract:
NASA's Exploration of Neighboring Planetary Systems program plans to develop interferometers that would merge the light from several telescopes to enable the observation of planets in other solar systems. An orbiting interferometer will be needed to find planets the size of Earth.

Digging deeply into galaxies' pasts
Article Abstract:
The Hubble Deep Field project, led by Space Telescope Science Institute Dir Robert Williams, gathered light from one area of the sky for 10 consecutive days. The image revealed thousands of objects believed to be galaxies like our own but much younger.
