Slovakia's Tatra Park: troubled green refuge
Article Abstract:
The re-privatization of Tatra National Park in Slovakia, Eastern Europe, has been relatively successful despite initial concerns that new landowners would introduce businesses which would damage its natural beauty. Many of the landowners decided not to exploit the park's attributes for financial gain. Some species including mountain goats and wild boar are well-protected by park management policy. However, Slovakian residents who were forced to give up park land in the re-privatization program should receive financial compensation.

How green the label?
Article Abstract:
The life cycle concept has become the basis of most government-sanctioned environmental labeling programs. The concept involves the assessment of the environmental impact of a product's entire life cycle from the raw material stage to the disposal stage. These assessments enable labeling programs to grant seals of approval for various products and promote the continuous development of environment-friendly products and services.
