Experiments that require isolation of components may be carried out through electrophoresis. The concept of electrophoresis dwells on the use of weak electric field to separate the negatively charged components of molecules from neutrally charged particles, including proteins and DNA fragments.

Getting a charge out of rain
Article Abstract:
Electrical charges of raindrops can actually be measured using an improvised instrument made of plastic drain pipe, funnels and metal cylinders. The device signals either an increase or decrease in the electric potential of the whole cylinder for every corresponding raindrop.
