Spiral plant pattern inspires environmental building design
Article Abstract:
Engineers while designing the education center for the Eden Project, in St. Austell, United Kingdom, a research endeavor that promotes environmental awareness through its botanical facilities, are using a spiral phyllotaxy pattern to create the most striking feature of the structure, its roof. The Eden Project, which is housed with massive geodesic domes, attracts tourists to its botanical gardens.

New curricula offer opportunities to high school students
Article Abstract:
The National Academy Foundation, National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering and Project Lead The Way Inc. will introduce the Academy of Engineering program by 2008 at 13 high schools around the U.S. The program includes engineering courses that will supplement a school's existing curricula.
