States set sights on 'eco' growth
Article Abstract:
States are actively involved in projecting the concept of environmental markets as a means of combining economic development with environmental protection. The strategies commonly applied to promote environmental business are planning, market development, tax policy incentives, technology and human resource development. States pursue overseas markets through environmental strategies, such as offering environmental loan guarantees and by promoting ecotourism. While environmental business impels the short-term growth of environmental markets, their sustained growth depends on technology.

Ecotourism promotes, protects environment
Article Abstract:
Ecotourism plays an active role in promoting the protection and conservation of the environment by raising the public's environmental consciousness. Many state management agencies are joining with non-governmental groups to promote eco-tourism through actively marketed programs that sensitize tourism to nature and its processes. Promoting eco-tourism through messages is an active part of the states' marketing program. As eco-tourism stresses local community development, states are afforded the impetus to develop eco-tourism markets in their cities.
