Strategic planning for technology development with patent analysis
Article Abstract:
Patents can be utilized as a guidepost for technology planning and forecasting aside from being just a map for monitoring the technology trajectory, according to a study aimed at demonstrating the effectiveness of a patent database. Two cases, one of which presents strategic planning for Light Emitting Diode, and the other involving Thin Film Transistor, are utilized in the study.

Article Abstract:
An international survey done by the Italian Observatory on Management of Innovation and Technology (OMIT) to compare Italian and German companies on their strategic technology management and evaluation systems is presented. The project consists of two phases involving panel of international experts in the field and a sample of Italian and German managers of large companies.
