Strategizing in the real world
Article Abstract:
The insignificant impact of strategic planning on profits can be traced to the formalization of plans, inaccurate assessment of firms and their market environments, inability to make long-term forecasts and other fundamental obstacles. However, realistic strategies do help in making firms more alert and responsive. Better forecasting can contribute to increased alertness; improved grasp of unique competencies, entry barriers and proprietary information; widened awareness of managers with regard to their firms and more adaptability in the strategies for future needs.
