Article Abstract:
A flood of discoveries using advanced digital detectors shows that irregular moons are actually the majority with their long, looping, slanted orbits, which were formed in paths encircling the sun. The moons might have come from the Kuiper belt beyond Neptune or from regions closer in and their capture might have involved collisions or other interactions in a younger, more densely populated solar system.
