Interactive television has become a reality with the introduction of the Zenith SM3589BT and Mitsubishi 35803, the first TV sets capable of receiving StarSight Telecast programs. The sets permit viewers to automatically summon program lists, tune to selected programs, tape shows and filter listings.

Interactive television provides a link between television programming and the television viewer. The viewer, in effect, can talk back to the television set. The 1990s should be an exciting time for interactive television as a number of new companies are preparing to launch their systems.
