Article Abstract:
Scientists are working on schemes for developing a laser that could fire attosecond light pulses that last only a few hundred billionths of a billionth of a second. An attosecond pulse would have important applications in the study of subatomic particles.

Researchers seek new weapon against the flu
Article Abstract:
Researchers have developed a new compound, tentatively called GS 4104, that may prove effective in treating the flu by blocking the activity of a viral enzyme called neuraminidase. Clinical trials of the compound will begin in spring 1997.
