Tapping the desert
Article Abstract:
This article examines augmentation of water resources in El Paso, Texas by tapping into the brackish water found in the desert floor using desalination process. The venture between the El Paso Water Utilities and Fort Bliss Army installation has the potential to provide water economically thereby putting less strain on the Hueco Bolson aquifer, which cuurently is the freshwater source.

Sea change
Article Abstract:
Water treatment professionals in the United States because of its expense ignored seawater desalination that is becoming primary source of portable water in some parts of the world. A desalination plant was installed in Florida and the results reveal that desalination is a viable option for the future as fresh water sources are insufficient.

Article Abstract:
The fire, which took place in June 2002 in the Missionary Ridge area, north of Durango, burned the watersheds affecting the quality of drinking water in the water utilities. A process was undertaken to check the affects of the fire on the quality of water, which is discussed in detail.
