The arsenic threat worsens
Article Abstract:
Arsenic concentrations found in Vietnamese groundwater wells are measured at toxic levels. The source of contamination is described as an oxyhydroxide reduction process exacerbated by the tropical environment, and ingestion by humans is attributed to the prevalence of UNICEF-built tubewells that tap directly into arsenic-contaminated waters.

A fern with an affinity for arsenic
Article Abstract:
The common brake fern has been found to accumulate arsenic in its stems and fronds, converting As(V) to As(III) at very high rates. Scientists see this as a way to remediate arsenic-contaminated sites in soil and water.
