Advances in computing machines, such as larger memories and faster computing times, as well as the development of new algorithms are helping researchers manipulate large numbers. Large numbers are used to test new computers, solve basic mathematical problems and in encryption algorithms.

Large igneous provinces
Article Abstract:
The underwater plateaus called the Kerguelen Plateau near Antarctica and the Voring Plateau near Norway are similar because they are both large igneous provinces. The rapid formation of these lava plateaus could have led to both biological diversity and the extinction of dinosaurs.
