Thermal shock strength of a semi-infinite piezoelectric medium

Article Abstract:

The thermal shock fracture behavior of piezoelectric materials is investigated theoretically for a piezoelectric semi-infinite medium containing a surface crack. The results of the study indicate that the influence of the piezoelectric effects on the stress intensity factors was insignificant which suggests that the thermal fracture of piezoelectric materials could be analyzed in a similar way as ordinary brittle solids.

Optimization of directionally attached piezoelectric actuators

Article Abstract:

The effects of the mechanical parameters of the actuators on the actuators performance with the aim of ranking the parameters and seeking significant improvement in the performance are examined. Further the effects of directionally attached piezoelectric (DAP) actuators geometric parameters and material properties are explored in a systematic way for the case of a cantilever beam.

Development of finite element techniques for three-dimensional analyses of thermo-piezoelectric materials

Article Abstract:

Finite element (FE) techniques are suggested for three-dimensional coupled thermo-electro-mechanical analyses. It concluded that the actual thermo-piezoelectric responses of three-dimensional structures subjected to thermal loadings could be determined by adopting a procedure TPESAP.
