The flow of scientific information from wealthy countries to scientists in the developing world have progressively declined since the 1980s. As a result, Third World scientists are gradually being isolated from scientific developments and are forced to conduct low-quality, duplicative research.

Royal Society of South Africa Pres George F.R. Ellis is nearly as well known for his principled stance against apartheid as he is for his contributions to cosmology and astrophysics. Ellis is a proponent of the open, ever-expanding universe theory, and he also believes in a universal moral law.

The treaty that worked - almost

The 1987 Montreal Protocol bound its 149 signatory-countries to phase out the manufacture and use of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) by 1996. Unfortunately, the treaty is being undermined by a thriving black market in CFCs.
