Tilting against a major theory of movement control
Article Abstract:
Hiroaki Gomi and Mitsuo Kawato, two Japanese scientists, have designed an apparatus to test the equilibrium point hypothesis on the way the brain controls body movements. Gomi and Kawato experiments on arm movements points to the fact that the brain is in control of movements and does not depend on reflexes.

Drug's link to genes reveals estrogen's many sides
Article Abstract:
Researchers are clarifying how estrogen can cause different effects depending on the tissue it is acting on. They found evidence suggesting that estrogen may send its gene-activating signals through different pathways, and that the effect estrogen has depends on the specific pathway used.

Multiple clocks keep time in fruit fly tissues
Article Abstract:
The gene responsible for regulating the internal rhythms of fruit flies has been found to function independent of the brain. The PER protein has been discovered in numerous bodily tissues and may help each part of the body to regulate its specific protein production.
