U.S. laureates stand out in paying tax

American Nobel laureates lament the fact that the US is one of only two countries that assess income tax on the Nobel Prize, claiming that Alfred Nobel intended to foster freedom of research, not to pad foreign countries' treasuries. Other foundations object to taxation of their prizes as well.

Antimatter hints at galactic turmoil
Article Abstract:
A cloud of positrons near the galactic center observed by the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory indicate that the Milky Way Galaxy may be more turbulent than astronomers commonly believe. Some astronomers believe that stellar explosions lead to the generation of the positrons.

Electron mirror gives a clearer view
Article Abstract:
Researchers have developed a corrective mirror that may improve the resolution of some electron microscopes five-fold. The mirror uses a hyperbolic electric field to produce aberrations in electron paths that cancel aberrations produced by the lens.
