Snowmobile trail threatens candidate national park site
Article Abstract:
The construction of the Ptarmigan Trail snowmobile highway through Mealy Mountain threatens the fragile ecology of the mountains. Mealy Mountain has is a candidate for national park status. Aside from opening the wilderness to commercial exploitation, the snowmobile trail also impinges upon the rights of the Innu Nation to the land.

Environmental disaster at Jasper's doorstep
Article Abstract:
The Canadian Nature Federation(CNF) contends against the Cardinal River Coal's Cheviot coal mine project in Alberta as it would adversely affect the habitat of grizzly bears living in the Jasper National Park. The CNF argues that the company did not follow basic environmental requirements.

Possible agreement on the Torngats by fall
Article Abstract:
The inclusion of particular grazing and archeological areas in a proposed park site on the Torngat Mountains has not been resolved. Local residents are clamoring for the immediate development of plans prior to the advancement of mineral staking claims.
