U.S. neutron scientists settle for less
Article Abstract:
The US has been reluctant to fund Dept of Energy neutron sources for materials research though their scientific was never disputed. A $3-billion reactor and a $1-billion accelerator have been rejected, and now neutron sicentists are hoping for $250 million for upgrades to existing facilities.

Republicans split over fate of the Department of Energy
Article Abstract:
Rep Dana Rohrabacher is leading a group of House Republicans that want to make deep cuts in Dept of Energy (DOE) funds for fusion and renewable energy research. Another group, headed by Todd Tiart, has a more drastic plan that would eliminate the DOE.

U.S. power outage won't dim ITER
Article Abstract:
The ITER project is moving ahead in spite of the downscaling of financial input from the US. The project, which will demonstrate the practicality of commercial fusion energy, is a joint effort of the US, the European Union, Japan and Russia.
