DNA transposition is a feature of many biological transactions such as the utilization of bacterial genes in antibiotic resistance and retrovirus integration. The various transpositional proteins are remarkably similar in structure, though they some from very different sources.

Mariner sails into Leishmania
Article Abstract:
Researchers are using the transposable element mariner to study the genetics of Leishmania, a parasitic protozoan that causes leishmaniasis. Mariner is the most widely distributed transposable element in animal phylogenetics. The research could lead to other uses of mariner.

Resistance to Leishmania major in mice

The conclusion that resistance to Leishmania major in mice is based on maintenance of the interleukin-12 pathway and not on differential regulation of interleukin-4 production is challenged.
