Work begins on seismic upgrade of critical Oakland tunnel
Article Abstract:
The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD), of Oakland, California undertook construction to upgrade the Claremont Tunnel and to protect it from damage caused by seismic activity. The native earth and rock surrounding the vault, smaller tunnels known, as side drifts will be excavate along the vault and backfilled with concrete to prevent water from eroding.

Design begins on Fort Worth flood control program
Article Abstract:
The project known as the Fort Worth Central City Project, funding around $360-million, was undertaken to revamp the flood control system along the Trinity River and revitalizing an adjacent industrial area near the city center. The project includes measures to restore the environmental issues and improve recreational amenities along the Trinity River.
