Everyday problem solving across the adult life span: influence of domain specificity and cognitive appraisal
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the differences in problem-solving strategies among younger, middle-aged and older adults for situations involving consumers, home and management. The study further analyzed the influence of perceived ability to resolve the problem, controllability and casual attributions on strategy selections. Results indicate that differences in everyday problem-solving depends on a complex interaction of the type of situation the individual is dealing with and how the individual appraises both the cause of and the skills possessed to manage the problem.

Age differences in stages of attributional processing
Article Abstract:
A study which combines an adult development perspective and an attributional processing perspective was conducted to understand how people make dispositional attributions. Results indicate that older adults made lower dispositional ratings if they were given more time to think about the situations than if asked to make an immediate judgment. Younger adults made higher dispositional ratings if they were given more time to make the judgment.
