The onset of dementia caregiving and its longitudinal implications
Article Abstract:
A study was done to examine patterns of entry into the caregiving role and how onset influences outcomes pertinent to the caregiving process. Analyses revealed that respondents who experienced a less abrupt entry into caregiving were less likely to institutionalize their relatives and reported greater decreases in well-being.

A study is conducted to determine how potent care that occurs early in the dementia caregiving career influences key outcomes over time. Findings suggest that increase in behavior problems were one of the most potent predictors of caregiver burden and depression over time.
