An eight year perspective on the relationship between the duration of abstinence and other aspects of recovery
Article Abstract:
The relationship between duration of abstinence from substance use and aspects of recovery such as mental health and coping responses, is analyzed. The study used data from 1,162 people entering treatment and followed up for 8 years. Results show that initial abstinence and the initial time period do not completely represent changes associated with long-term recovery.
