Current foresight activities in France, Spain, and Italy

Article Abstract:

France, Spain and Italy revived their technology foresight activities during the start of the 1990s. France reversed its earlier orientation towards government planning and instead utilized the experiences of other countries in technology foresight and implemented studies of critical technologies. Spain's research and development (R&D) system is still dependent on research centers on the state and very little on the company level. Coordination between the two sectors is notably lacking. Italy's R&D system is mainly dependent on universities, public firms and other research centers. Coordination between universities and industry is still underdeveloped.
