Mediators and moderators in the evaluation of programs for children; current practice and agenda for improvement
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the role of mediators and moderators in the evaluation of programs for children are discussed. Using bibliometric analysis, how evaluators use mediators and moderators in treatment studies in fields including juvenile justice or protection, health care, and education. Such use is sporadic and vague at best, and an agenda for improvement is outlined.

The "Experimenting Agency": the California Youth Authority research division
Article Abstract:
The institutional and political reasons for adaptation of series of randomized field trials by the California Youth Authority to test interventions for juvenile and young adult offenders is examined. The effect of these trials on the agency and on California justice is discussed.
