Race, class, and Hurricane Katrina: Social differences in human responses to disaster
Article Abstract:
The role of racial and class differences on the human responses to Hurricane Katrina, the costliest natural disaster ever to hit the US, is examined. The results have shown strong racial and class differences, indicating that neither of these dimensions can be reduced to the other when seeking to understand responses by survivor themselves.

Grade retention among immigrant children
Article Abstract:
The effects of immigrant status upon grade retention among children in the United States are investigated. The results show that the children of the first generation, especially males, are less likely to experience retention than non-immigrants of similar demographic, family background and school-related characteristics.

Intergenerational transfers and the prospects for increasing wealth inequality
Article Abstract:
The idea that self-sufficient structure of inequality has established over wealth inequality that has crossed a threshold is evaluated. Results concluded concerns on the level of inequality that will continue to increase across to its full distribution appear unwarranted.
