Rethinking the market - technology relationship for innovation
Article Abstract:
Mowery and Rosenberg's (1979) analysis of whether technology push or market pull has a greater influence on innovation and their criticism on ambiguity of terms is reexamined. A proper definition for terms such as use, need, and intended use facilitates a clearer discourse of the effects of technology and the market in the innovation process. The concept of market is defined in two ways. The market in innovation is not defined as a social agency but as a source of related values used in the creation of the innovation market concept.
