Alternative science
Article Abstract:
A study counters the paradigmatic status of modern western science by identifying the existence of alternative knowledges that precede this hegemonic form, and by showing the fruitfulness of alternative sciences emerging in contemporary times. It argues that the idea of an alternative science demonstrates that issues of knowledge determine the possibilities of a politics that connects the question of alternative life-worlds to alternative livelihoods, lifestyles and life cycles.

Tacit knowledge
Article Abstract:
Edmund Husserl, in the analysis of tacit knowledge, states that, within the mundane frame of reference within which ordinary persons routinely apperceive their phenomenal world, they take it for granted that they encounter things 'as they are', as self-given. Husserl devised 'phenomenological reductions' whereby the essential features of such taken-for-grantedness might temporarily be subject to explicitation.
