The Era: Technology to aid archivists and historians

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) have appointed Lockheed Martin team to build the Electronic Records Archives (ERA), a repository of 21st century history. The ERA is an archival solution, which takes the challenge of archiving digital records and transforms it into a powerful system that strengthens nearly every aspect of record keeping architecture and would have a positive and profound impact on the archivists and historians.

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to make records holdings more widely available for research produce microfilm publications. Descriptions of two recent publications such as 'Records Relating to the Disposal of the Cherokee Neutral Lands, 1867-1889' and 'Concentration Camp Dachau Entry Registers 1933-1945' are presented.

A brief description of how World War II veterans' records are preserved and made accessible is presented. All the records are maintained in the National Archives and Records Administration's National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
