The new urban landscape: developers and edge cities
Article Abstract:
A model of urban spatial structure is used to examine the determinants of edge city development and explain why certain decisions as regards location and business district capacity are made by the developer. The model shows that developers recognize the competition provided by core cities. Building edge cities near core cities facilitates the exchange of business information and results in employees in edge cities asking for higher wages.
