Youth still at risk, yet barriers to education remain: SIECUS testimony for the National AIDS Commission
Article Abstract:
Studies on the sexuality of young adults reveal that there is an increase in the rate of sexually active teenagers despite the AIDS epidemic. Although more young peopleuse condoms, there are still teenagers who do not practice safe sex. Most states encourage HIV/AIDS education courses but not all programs are sufficiently informative. Moreover, the response to the AIDS epidemic has been slow in general due to various social and psychological barriers. An intensive education catering to all youths, including those of different sexual orientation, is the key to win the battle against AIDS.

The far-right and fear-based abstinence-only programs
Article Abstract:
Far right organizations have begun targeting comprehensive sexualityeducation over textbooks and curricula. Fundamentalists commonly target sexuality issues such as safe sex, nonmarital sexual activity, contraceptive information and sexual orientation. These groups usually start their agenda within fundamentalist congregations with pamphlet information and persuasion tactics, then spreading out from that base. These organizations include the American Family Assn, Eagle Forum, Concerned Women for America and The Rutherford Institute.
